The purpose of this microbial investigation was to determine if actively growing airborne mold or other contaminants were present in the corner wall of a Conference room for a Fortune 500 consumer electronics firm. The second purpose of this investigation, if necessary, was to develop a bio-remediation plan for safely removing the suspect mold contaminant from the affected area. Also, PHASE Associates conducted a thorough visual inspection of the corner wall for any hint of mold growth. There were no visible signs of water intrusion in the wallpaper finish or exposed sheet rock, moisture content was measured in the wall paper finish and sheet rock. One wipe sample was collected for fungal spores and the other tape lift sample was collected for characterizing other contaminants. The swab samples collected for fungi were non-detectable according to the limit of detection for the method. The adhesive tape lift sample was moderately loaded with different particulate. Based on the visual microbial assessment, the fungi sample collection, and moisture content results, there was not a need for localized bio remediation activities. |
