Gary Schwartz, President
As President of PHASE Associates for over 10 years, Gary has 27 years of experience in safety and health training/education, Mold Investigations and bio-remediation plan development, Indoor Air Quality, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, and ergonomics in both the private and public sectors across all industries. Mr. Schwartz is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Microbial Consultant (CMC). He is licensed by State of New Jersey as a Radon Measurement Specialist.  Gary is certified as a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Certified Responder and Incident Commander. He has a Business of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Rutgers University and earned a M.S. in Environmental Health from New York University. Mr. Schwartz continued is education with an M.B.A. in Finance/Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He is also a Part Time Lecturer at the Environmental Sciences faculty of Rutgers University since 1994. He has taught both Principles of Industrial Hygiene and the 40 hour Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response courses.

Mr. Schwartz provides guidance and advice to clients on challenging environmental health and safety issues, manages complex multidisciplinary projects, presents seminars and engaging training classes, reviews reports and proposals, conducts assessments and audits, and provides litigation document support and expert opinion.

Kenneth Bickerton, Vice President - Industrial Hygiene and Safety
Ken is a Principal CIH at PHASE Associates in Industrial Hygiene, Indoor Air Quality, Safety and Environmental Consultation to private firms and public agencies. He is also certified as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC).  He received is Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Rutgers University. Mr. Bickerton has over 17 years of experience in safety and health training/education, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, safety management, and exposure assessments. He is highly respected and regarded as an industrial hygiene expert in the flavor/fragrant industries.

Mr. Bickerton provides guidance and advice to clients on health and safety issues, manages complex multidisciplinary projects, conducts training, conducts industrial hygiene surveys and audits, provides his expertise to legal cases and evaluates and advises on exposure controls.

Douglass Emmett, Vice President - Environmental Engineering
Doug joined PHASE Associates in March, 2007 and the key player in our Environmental Department. He has over 27 years Environmental, Health & Safety and consulting experience with emphasis on the consumer products, chemical and steel companies. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Registered Environmental Manager (REM) and Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA). Mr. Emmett received a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He holds an Honorary Lifetime Accredited System Auditor License form the International Society of Accredited Safety Auditors.

Mr. Emmett provides guidance to clients on environmental management projects. He conducts regulatory audits, inspections, air, water and hazardous waste permit development. One of his specialties is conducting environmental preliminary assessments for schools and child care centers.
